This unit introduces students to the technique of colorizing a black and white photo. Traditionally, artists would “hand tint” or “hand color” black and white photos. Digital hand painting is a similar process using Photoshop to add and manipulate color in digital format. Students will develop the ability to use brushes as an art tool in Photoshop and work with a variety of colors. Layer management and the use of blend modes to create different effects are also explored during this process.
